Ring of Fire Eclipse | May 20

“Love is a burning thing and it makes a fiery ring
Bound by wild desire, I fell into a Ring of Fire.”

We begin our monthly lunar journey with an annular Solar Eclipse conjunct the South Node and the Sun and Moon in (sidereal) Taurus

Eclipses impact our collective destiny and shift our path.

The energy pattern that they create is dispensed until we reach the next set of eclipses (about 6 months later).

It’s like a “cosmic dusting” of the energy of the collective consciousness that needs to be actively expressed on the Earth at this time for the good of our evolutionary path, what we are here to clarify and bring forth for the good of all.

The conjunction with the South Node and Venus, ruler of Taurus currently Retrograde show us that there is old territory, the familiar, that we need to revisit and learn from. The Current sesqui-quadrate between Jupiter-Saturn also emphasizes that this is not the time to start something new, but rather skillfully navigate, negotiate and finish up what we have already begun.

Taurus is the most down-to-earth of all the Earth signs (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn) and this New Moon brings a focus on our relationship with Mother Earth as well as our own bodies ~ our Earthly vehicles and how well we have been nurturing and caring for them both. Venus, ruler of Taurus is currently Retrograde and we are revisiting issues relating to our own self-worth and what we value. (More on the Venus Retrograde here).

Taurus brings a very fertile and productive energy that allows us to tap into the deep and vast resources within us and do what needs to be done It’s a slow, steady and persistent energy~ some would say a stubborn energy ~ but often that is what is needed to create something lasting, meaningful and beautiful.

There is a strong chance of some additional potent Earth activity with the Eclipse path crossing over and potentially activating the Pacific “Ring of Fire”, the very active area of earthquake and seismic activity in the Pacific Basin.

The eclipse path crosses the Northern Pacific Ocean and aligns with the “Ring of Fire” at several key places. It moves along the coast of Japan, over Tokyo and Mt. Fuji, and crosses the Japan Trench. It then follows along the Aleutian Trench, along the Alaska Aleutian Islands and crosses the Cascadia subduction zone in Northern California between Crescent City and Eureka, crossing Mt. Shasta and the Lassen Volcano (the southern-most volcano in the Cascade Range), before moving across Lake Tahoe and into Nevada and southwest Utah. Finally it crosses over northeast Arizona, moving into New Mexico and ending near Lubbock Texas.

As we enter the New Moon Phase, Saturn in service-oriented, organized earthy Virgo is trine Retrograde Venus and Quintile the Sun and Moon bringing a practical, focused and creative discipline that allows us to channel our energy towards our objectives and feel our “grounding” .

Pallas Athena, feminine archetype of wisdom sextile the Sun and Moon helps us to understand and better see the patterns in what is going on around us. Mercury semi-square Uranus further supports this triggering innovative insights and ideas that assist us in formulating a plan of action.

There is a strong theme of “second chances” with the New Moon/Solar Eclipse but we need to focus on the gifts that we have received from the past while at the same time be willing to bury past grievances. We need to learn from the past and move forward with the wisdom gained in order to make better choices in the future.
